The Van Wezel Foundation (aka, the Sarasota Performing Arts Center Foundation) is partnering with the city of Sarasota, other regional municipalities, private philanthropists and foundations to build and operate what will be the performing arts centerpiece of Sarasota and the entire Gulf Coast region. The new performing arts center will be a public-private partnership in which the City of Sarasota and the Foundation will be the principal participants. Completing the project – construction, operations and programming – will require funding of more than $300 million, of which 50% is anticipated to be raised from philanthropic sources.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team during the start-up phase of an enormous project that will become an important cultural resource and legacy for Southwest Florida.

Summary

We are looking for a hands-on marketing/PR/social media coordinator and community builder to amplify our brand voice and add dimension to our social media content and community events. This person should have a passion for performing arts, social media, marketing, pr and events, and will be the driving force of content, community engagement and day-to-day execution. In addition, they will be carrying out the social media and press placement strategy via editorial calendars, copywriting, and associated content development (photography, video, graphics, GIFs, etc.)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the internal team on social media plans, press releases and community outreach.
  • Staff community events, preparing presentations for executive leadership and providing logistical support
  • Working with executive leadership, writes weekly press releases/media alerts
  • Manage editorial calendar to meet our PR objectives.
  • Develop social media/engagement strategy at a day-to-day, actionable level by creating short-, medium- and long-term goals.
  • Monitor and post content on all branded channels to ensure brand tone and aesthetics consistency, reinforcing a cohesive brand experience.
  • Work with internal team on social strategy to develop compelling imagery, create photo and video assets, and attend events, education programs, etc. to capture social media and press content.
  • Maintain social strategy and craft copy and content with the internal team to deliver assets for scheduled postings, acquiring, gathering, and managing logistics of all campaign materials as needed for social media efforts.
  • Monitor and report campaign performance using social media tools and/or platform analytics. Build, communicate and document objectives and success metrics for all channels (e.g., engagement, views, online conversations, tonal sentiment, etc)
  • Manage relationships with external vendors to ensure high-quality and timely execution of marketing programs and to ensure competitiveness

  • Knowledge of MailChimp, Wordfly, Constant Contact
  • Canva, InDesign and WordPress a plus
  • Graphic design experience required


Minimum Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one to three years of related experience


Position Status:

This is an exempt full-time position. Generally, the hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, for a 40-hour work week. The hours may be adjusted as required to ensure that the job is accomplished. Some weekends/nights work is to be expected.
